loved this one sarah

i've been thinking about "engineering serendipity" recently

it's fun to think about the ways where you can increase the odds of interactions like this happening, or to make it sound more science-y, the "rate of social collisions"

curious if that's something you think about, and what you've tried in your community work to engineer serendipity

love this David! Especially with Holdette we're always trying to find ways to get our members to connect with another both through planned events and by encouraging them to throw on their own casual hangs. We like to say the more you put yourself out there, the greater likelihood you'll make a new friend!

Thanks for sharing this Sarah. This is something I've been thinking a lot about lately too...

Something we've had success with at Nervous System Mastery is a weekly feature called 'curious conversations' where folks can 'opt in' via liking a weekly post. Of those who opt in, they are randomly assigned to a pair and tasked with self-organising a 1:1 together. We've had great feedback from this, but challenges in letting more people know that this exists.

Curious to hear others thoughts on how we can make serendipity happen in the world of online community.

❤️ I can see Community Culture being created that enables the casual community.
